Jumping Ship

Reports have been circulating around the NBA that Orlando Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu has basically closed the door on returning to Orlando. Hedo was the key to Orlando's success the past two seasons, leading them to the Finals this year. I'm sure that Orlando's recent trade for Vince Carter has a lot to do with his decision. The two teams reportedly closest to getting Turkoglu are Portland and Toronto. Both seem to be a good fit for him but I think he should choose Portland; they have a great young nucleus and would be an automatic contender with Hedo in the lineup. Toronto would be shaky because Chris Bosh will most likely be gone after next season, leaving Turkoglu on his own. It will be interesting to see where he goes.

Diva?

Spanish superstar guard Ricky Rubio was drafted 5th overall by the T'Wolves in Thursday's draft and he's already showing signs of being a diva. Rubio has yet to show up at any Timberwolves' public functions and is publicly stating that he's getting offers from Spain and Turkey. It seems that he doesn't want to play for Minnesota who drafted another point guard with their 6th pick in Johnny Flynn. I think Rubio may be scared of competition; I believe that Flynn is a better player than he is. I wouldn't be surprised if D'Antoni and The Knicks get their hands on him. He'll be able to roam free in New York.

BAD Move

Last week the Orlando Magic traded away Rafer Alston and Courtney Lee to the New Jersey Nets to get Vince Carter. I keep hearing how good this trade is but to me this is the worst move of the off-season yet. Orlando gave away a backup point guard that led them to the Finals and a solid starting rookie in Courtney Lee. In return they get Vince Carter's huge ego. They now have 4 players who will all be in need of the ball; I just don't see this working. With this trade i see Hedo Turkgolu packing his bags and going to another team. So much for the promising future Orlando...

Tragic Loss

I'm a couple days late but nevertheless, Rest In Peace to Michael Jackson. I listened to a lot of his music growing up and it's hard to believe that he's dead. He was definitely the biggest entertainer of all time and it's sad that he's gone now. MJ was about to go on his last tour next month in the UK and was working on another album. Hopefully it'll still drop because I wanna hear it. My prayers go out to his family. He was a universal icon.

Cookin'

Yesterday Gucci posted 3 brand new videos on World Star! Say what you want about him, the man is getting his work done. The 3 videos are "Photo Shoot", "I Think I Love Her" and "She Gotta Friend" featuring Juelz Santana. For Gucci fans, "Photo Shoot" and "I Think I Love Her" are pretty old now but the track with Santana is off of Gucci's new mixtape, Writing On The Wall. Here are all 3:

Finally!!!!

Lupe finally leaked the first single off of his new album, Lasers...it's called"Shining Down" and it features 1st and 15th's own Matthew Santos who dropped the hooks on Lupe's "Superstar" and "American Terrorist". I'm a huge Lupe fan and I've been waiting for this song's finished product for some time now. I heard a sample of it a couple months back but nothing since, but luckily it's here now. Hopefully the album isn't too far behind...I'd say a few months away...maybe Winter '09? I hope. Anyway, here is the track download. It's going straight to my ipod.

Part 2?

Last night Young Jeezy leaked a song called 24/23 taking shots at Gucci Mane and OJ Da Juiceman. It seems to me that Jeezy is expressing some hate because of Gucci's buzz right now and it's unnecessary. On XXL.com it was reported that Gucci and Juice don't plan to retaliate. Hopefully this doesn't turn ugly as it did in 2005 when Gucci Mane killed a man that he believed was sent to kill him by Young Jeezy. I read that the 3 rappers will all be at the same show twice in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully nobody gets killed. Here is the track by Jeezy:

New Found Interest?

Congrats to the Pittsburgh Penguins on winning the Stanley Cup. I watched about 3 minutes of it total. Even though I've never really been interested in hockey i think i may start giving it a chance...just maybe.

The Champs

Even though I'm not really a Kobe or L.A Lakers fan, I gotta give credit where it's due. Congrats on the championship L.A. I wonder if Phil will come back now that he has 10 rings as a coach????

It's Almost Here...

The NBA Draft is almost exactly two weeks away from tonight and things are shaking up quite a bit. Players' stocks have risen and fallen dramatically in the past month with their workouts being observed around the league. There are a few players who i have as sleepers, sure shots and overrated:

Sleepers: Earl Clark- To me this guy has the potential to be a star. He's a legit 6'9/6'10 and has great skill. He's a great passer for a big man and has solid scoring ability.

Eric Maynor- Because this draft is PG heavy it is easy to overlook certain players. Eric Maynor may be the most seasoned and NBA ready point in the draft along with Ty Lawson. I think Maynor could be an immediate contributer for any team. I see Milwaukee as a great fit for him. He has the great mix of scoring and passing.

Chase Budinger- This guy had great buzz coming out of high school but didn't exactly turn into a superstar at Arizona. With that said, he still was a good scorer and has great offensive skill; he can handle, great athleticism and has consistent NBA range. I believe that if he could land in New Orleans he will be a solid starter for many years with a point guard like Chris Paul running the show.

Sure Shots: Brandon Jennings- I believe that this guy will be a star in a couple seasons. He has all the tools; he's athletic, a great passer and can score with anyone. A lot of controversy followed him because he opted to skip college to go play overseas. I think this helped him a lot. He should be an even better PG because of that move.

James Harden- This guy just has what it takes, from physical attributes to basketball IQ. Some had doubts about him because of his poor performance in the tourny this past season. I think he has star quality. He'll definitely be a starter for the majority of his career. If he lands in Oklahoma City I think this team will have a promising future ahead of them with players such as Russell Westbrook, Jeff Green and soon-to-be superstar Kevin Durant.

Stephen Curry- I'm not sure what else i could possibly say about the guy, he's a flat out star. Fans love him, he can shoot the lights out and will be an instant offensive weapon. This guy has superstar quality.

Overrated: Jrue Holiday- It's still a mystery for me as to why this kid left UCLA. I see no outstanding abilities from him except his freakishly long arms. On some mock drafts he is a lottery pick. His hype must be solely off of potential. He should definitely go back to school; with Darren Collison gone UCLA would be his team.

BJ Mullens- This is another freshman that needs to unpack his bags back to school. Just because he is 7' Mullens will be drafted in the first round, but he shouldn't be. He wasn't a factor at Ohio St. so it's very unlikely that he'll be one in the league.

Ricky Rubio- I believe that this Rubio kid is good but I'm not sure how good he really is. I don't believe his talent is enough to make him a lock to go top 5. I'm almost sure that the next 5 point guards projected to go after him would give him a fit on the court. I saw him play in the Olympics and he reminds me of a young Steve Nash; he's not very athletic but he is very crafty and knows how to use the ability he has very well. He's also a great passer. I don't doubt that he is good but is he great like many say he is? Only time will tell.

A Classic

If you haven't seen this movie yet, then please set some free time aside. I'm not sure of it's actual box office sales but The Hangover is the best movie in theaters right now. From beginning to end it is pure comedy; no chance that this movie won't have you laughing non-stop. This is a great movie, especially for the high school and college crowd. I've seen it twice so far but I'm sure that I'm not done with it. It reminds me of Superbad but with older characters. So just go check it out. It's worth every dollar.

Sad...

Just saw this on World Star, some American Jews over in Israel expressing how they feel about President Obama. They claim that he doesn't care about Jews, and that he's not a good president. Ironically after some of them say he shows Jews no respect, they call him a nigger. So obviously they show him no respect either. It's basically just a bunch of drunk kids speaking ignorantly. But here it is...

Sky Rocketing

Just about every follower of basketball has witnessed the growth of Stephen Curry over the past two years. At first he was just seen as a cinderella-story from a small school, never being seriously taken as a NBA player. For the past year his stock has risen and fallen but now there is no more doubting the son of former NBA sharpshooter Dell Curry. At season's beginning, he was projected to go high teens-low twenties in this month's draft. As the season went on his stock danced around late lottery-mid teens. I got the chance to see him play at the Jimmy V Classic in Madison Square Garden this season and he was nothing short of great as he brought Davidson from behind to defeat West Virginia. After the college basketball season ended, rumors started to circulate that he would be taken by the Knicks depending on what pick they would get. Now that New York knows they have the 8th pick, it's very possible that Curry will be sporting a Knicks' jersey very soon. With his recent performance at the NBA Draft combine, Curry has silenced many doubters. Now on nbadraft.net(my favorite mock draft site) they have Curry possibly going 6th to the T-Wolves. No matter where he goes, I know this guy has the chance to be a star; he can score with anyone, has unlimited range and is already a fan favorite. I would love to see him in New York. Under Dantoni's system he could be an instant 20 point scorer in the league.

Old School Joint

I've been listening to this song a lot lately. It's "Represent" from NaS' first album, Illmatic, one of the best rap albums ever. I thought I should share it with everyone. Here it is...

Inevitable?

Everyone knows by now that LeBron and the Cavs were eliminated from the playoffs by the Magic on Saturday night. Everyone also knows that rumors of LeBron going to the New York Knicks have been circulating for about a year now. But the question now is that is the move to NY now inevitable for LeBron? This year did seem to be the golden opportunity for James to win it all; his team had the best record in the league, he had the best supporting cast that he's ever had and he won the MVP award. If LeBron doesn't win the title next season it seems that he'll definitely be leaving Cleveland. Another question is, will he definitely be going to the Knicks, I don't think so. There are two more teams that i see could be attractive to LeBron: The Nets and The Heat. The Nets are moving to Brooklyn and actually have good players for LeBron to play with in Brook Lopez and Devin Harris. Miami has D-Wade and if The Heat could add LeBron they will be looked at as the next Jordan and Pippen. The 2010 free agency period will be a very interesting one. I personally cannot wait to see what happens and who will go where.

Whaoooo...

Not even 2 minutes ago I was on World Star and saw this video, some guy from India gets electrocuted on top of a train. THIS IS NOT FOR THE WEAK STOMACHED!!!! Check it out though, its crazily graphic!
